Weather Fact
The highest temperature recorded in Alabama was 112ºF on September 5, 1925 at Centerville. (2008 The World Almanac and Book of Facts.)

CoCoRaHS
CoCoRaHS is a volunteer system where average people who like weather can record the precipitation at their location and help various climate researchers better understand precipitation patterns. For more information, go to the CoCoRaHS web site.

10/19/2008 CoCoRaHS reports (as of time of blog entry) -
The most rain reported in Tennessee was 0.02" at Greeneville. There were 257 reports from Tennessee.
The most rain recorded in Texas was 0.01" at Lumberton. (It appears a report from Austin for 1.43" should have been a multiple day report.) There were 270 reports from Texas.
No rain was recorded in Tarrant County, Texas.
So far 3919 CoCoRaHS entries have been made and the greatest amount of rain was 0.79" at Harkers Island, North Carolina. (Three reports of more than this amount all appear to be bogus. Why can't people figure out how to enter multiple day reports?)

No new snow was reported. (There was one report from Montana for 4.0", but since that was the only report from Montana it seems unlikely it was from 10/19.)
The greatest amount of snow on the ground was 4.0" at Aniak, Alaska.
