(2010 The World Almanac and Book of Facts. When the record low or high has been recorded multiple times for a state, the latest is reported here.)

CoCoRaHS
CoCoRaHS is a volunteer system where average people who like weather can record the precipitation at their location and help various climate researchers better understand precipitation patterns. For more information, go to the CoCoRaHS web site.

1/31/2010 CoCoRaHS reports (from reports that looked legitimate as of time of blog entry) -
The most precipitation reported in Tennessee was 0.60" at Oak Ridge (It seems several people in Tennessee are confused as how to record snow events). The most snow reported was 1.1" at several locations in East Tennessee. There were 249 reports from Tennessee.
The most precipitation reported in Sumner County, Tennessee was 0.01" at Westmoreland. The most new snow reported was 0.1" at Westmoreland.
The most precipitation reported in Texas was 0.42" at Victoria. There were 386 reports from Texas.
No precipitation was reported in Tarrant County, Texas.
So far 5475 CoCoRaHS entries have been made and the greatest amount of precipitation is hard to say, many reports of precipitation seem to be mixed up with amounts of snow or ice. There was a report of 1.33" at Varnell, South Carolina that may have been correct.

The most new snow reported was 15.1" at Ridge, Maryland.
The most snow reported on the ground was 98.0" at Soda Springs, California.
