CoCoRaHS
CoCoRaHS is a volunteer system where average people who like weather can record the precipitation at their location and help various climate researchers better understand precipitation patterns. For more information, go to the CoCoRaHS web site.

The most rain in Tennessee recorded so far on CoCoRaHS for 7/10/2008 was 4.74" in Westmoreland.

The most rain in Texas recorded so far for 7/10/2008 was 1.81" in Victoria. The only rain recorded in Tarrant County was 0.04" in Saginaw (CoCoRaHS station TX-TN-32).

So far 5122 CoCoRaHS entries have been made for 7/10/2008 and the greatest amount of rain was 4.74" at Westmoreland, TN.

The Westmoreland station with the most rain for 7/10/2008 is my CoCoRaHS station, and if no one else enters a greater rainfall for 7/10/2008, this will be the first day I am aware of where I recorded the most rain for a day for Tennessee (or for all CoCoRaHS states). I am quite proud of myself for attracting all this rain. I'm not sure what time of day the rain (4.12" recorded for 7/11) fell last year, but odds are it fell on July 10th during the day. That would mean we received over 4" of rain on July 10th two years in a row. I wonder how often this area receives 4" of rain in one day, probably not very often since a good year for us is 50".
